How the DSW or PhD Chooser Decides
Each answer adds points to the DSW, the PhD or neither, and the result shows the reason behind every point. Your goal counts most, because the two degrees train you for different work: three points for research toward the PhD, three for practice or leadership toward the DSW, and one each for teaching, which both degrees lead to. Funding needs and a full-time schedule push toward the PhD; keeping your job, years of practice, a shorter timeline and online study push toward the DSW.
A gap of three points or more gives a clear result. A smaller gap means either could work, and the program list shows both. Programs are filtered by your format, schedule, funding and experience answers, and programs that say admission is paused are left out.
